Growing up in Japan, TOMOKO was swept away by American pop and soul music. Stevie Wonder's masterpiece 'Songs in the Key of Life' changed her life forever at the age of nine. When she expressed her desire to become a soul singer, everyone, including her own family, laughed at her. Not one to be stopped, one day she packed her things and moved to New York City. The rest, as they say, is history.

TOMOKO has sung in the Gospel Choir with Josh Groban for the 2007 Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting Ceremony broadcast live on NBC. She has also performed the National Anthem for the New York Yankees minor league game, and in many other major venues in New York City, including the internationally famous Blue Note Jazz Club.

with Wycliffe Gordon’s newly founded indie label BluesBack Records. Gordon, one of the best trombone players in the business today, and best known as a former member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet, also performs on the debut CD.
Produced by the soulful and multitalented Brazilian artist JAMBA, the album’s irresistible arrangements combine live instrumentation and programming both easy on the ears yet funky and soulful.
The album features an impressive roster of musicians and was mixed by the Grammy Award-winning engineer Scott Jacoby.
